On the banks of the beautiful Bua River in Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve, Central Malawi.
Accommodation is provided in six purpose-made, safari tents, erected on varnished wooden floors and shaded by thatched roofs. Large mosquito-netted windows, ventilation flaps and screen doors, ensure that even on the hottest day the tents stay cool inside. Each is located to ensure seclusion and to engender a feeling of solitude. Each has an extensive viewing deck to the front that overlooks the beautiful Bua River.
Bua River Lodge is highly acclaimed for the friendliness of our staff, the quality of the accommodation, the standard of service and our excellent food! We have been awarded TripAdvisor's Certificate of Excellence for both 2014 and 2015 and now have 85 reviews all but three in the Very Good and Excellent categories.
The renowned conservation organization, African Parks, has taken over the management of Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve. They are currently fencing a sanctuary area within the reserve that will encompass Bua River Lodge. Starting in June 2016, some 250 elephants together with numbers of buffalo, sable and other antelope species will be translocated into the sanctuary. Soon, Bua River Lodge will be able to offer more certain wildlife sightings during walking safaris than in the past and will also introduce game drives in 2017.
Other activities include: Walking, photography, fishing, birding and the reserve.
At Bua River Lodge you can really get away from it all. We have no network coverage, so you won’t be disturbed during your stay with us! Of course, this makes booking your stay with us a little more difficult than normal!
