Conforzi Lake House is a self catering lake shore unit comprising of one main house and a smaller cottage situated approximately 10 km north of Club Makokola and it is one of the older houses on the lake.

 

It is built on a large plot and has been in the Conforzi family from 1958.The house was extensively refurbished a few years ago. It has a beautifully manicured beach overlooking Boa Dzulu Island. The beauty of the garden consists of ancient baobabs and other huge trees under which one can sit and admire the beautiful view and soak in the lake atmosphere.

Mango Drift is a backpacker’s lodge located on the west side of Likoma Island on the beautiful waters of Lake Malawi.

 

Situated on an expansive and private stretch of beach, Mango Drift has to be one of the most scenic places to stay on the island and arguable the best place to catch the sunset. 


There are 2 en-suite and 6 beach chalets located along the beach; as well as a 9-bed en-suite dormitory and camping is also available. The two en-suite mid-range chalets are slightly set back on the hillside, with private bathrooms and beautiful verandas. Whilst the beach chalets sit next to each other along the Mango beach with a shared shower block at the far end. Accommodation prices range from 6$-70$.


Under a big Mango tree is the bar and restaurant offering a full range of drinks, an international cuisine menu and all day snacks. Dinner is a set dinner on the beach, under the stars with lanterns every night. Restaurant prices range up to 8,50$.

Mufasa Eco Lodge has a private beach in a beautiful cove adjacent to the Eastern Border of the Lake Malawi National Park, Forest Reserve.

 

There are excellent snorkelling sites around the cove, without the need to go out with a boat. Wide variety of birdlife and other wild life such as Monitor Lizards, mongoose, rock rabbit.  There are hippo's in the presidential bay which often come and graze at the back of our site at night.  They cannot come over to our beach but we hear them, grazing and playing in the reeds.  There are also catfish spawning pools next to our entrance road.

 

Hiking in the surrounding mountains is also an excellent experience. A trail is being marked through the forest reserve.

The lodge activities include guided walks, a visit to the l00 year old cathedral, boat trips to the neighbouring Chizumulu Island or to Cobue in Mozambique. Snorkels, goggles and flippers are available for hire for enjoying the abundant fish life.

 

There are boats leaving Nkhata Bay for Likoma several times per week and once a week from Senga Bay.
