Activities & Experiences
Sunbird Mzuzu offers a variety of activities and experiences for you to enjoy and experience first-hand.
Lake Malawi
Many say the most beautiful parts of Malawi’s ‘Lake of Stars’ are in the northern region. When at Sunbird Mzuzu, the Lake’s captivating white sand beaches and crystal clear waters are just 60 minutes away both at Chikale Beach within Nkhata Bay or the broad silver sand beaches of Chintheche, always a premier venue choice for Malawi’s famous international music festival. These beautiful beaches boast pristine, palmfringed sands, dotted by traditional fishing villages amid residual patches of tropical rain forest and the largest mango trees in the country.
Nyika National Park
The Nyika National Park is a highland wonderland well within reach of Mzuzu. It is Malawi’s largest park, covering a 2000m plateau of great natural beauty. Its panoramic vistas and wooded valleys are home to a tremendous variety of plant life including rare mountain aloes and orchids. The Nyika Plateau is home to much wildlife, including elephant, buffalo, lion, the elusive leopard, cheetah, eland, wild dog, roan, reedbuck and small antelope, zebra and many others.
Vwaza Marsh Game Reserve
A 3-hour drive north of Mzuzu, this reserve shelters large numbers of elephant, buffalo and hippo, a variety of antelope, lion and leopard and the endangered African wild dog.
